Fiji Meats Ltd
Friday, March 09, 2018

Fiji Meats Ltd (FML) was established on February 18, 1953. It previously traded as Lautoka Meats Company, and became one of the country's most iconic producers of various meat products.

FML now has a centralised factory in Lautoka and supplies meat to its four retail outlets around Fiji.

FML is a major supplier to Fiji's tourism industry and meets local consumer demand.

Fiji Meats is now accredited to be the most hygienic meat processing plant in the country and meets various standards to ensure the factory is of the highest hygiene standard for meat processing.

Currently Fiji Meats ensures the company meets all its customer's expectations by considering proactive measures that need to be taken for the retention of our valued customers, whether it is in the factory, in the shops or while on delivery.

The innovative approach shown by Fiji Meats in its product development has been matched by the company's commitments to maintain manufacturing hygiene standards to the highest order.

As part of this commitment the company has been working forward fulfilling all of the requirements of what is known as the Hazard Analysis Critical Control program (HACCP)

Some 15 years ago a joint venture with Simon Cole to establish the Vuda Piggery of which FML is a 47 per cent shareholder in this venture. This piggery is very popular and highly regarded as the best pork production facility in the country.

This company is very well versed in its animal husbandry practice combined with controlled feed and artificial insemination program which results in pork meat of high international standards

Beef is purchased locally from suppliers around Vitilevu and from other areas such as Savusavu, Taveuni and Vatukoula.

At present adequate suppliers are being sourced with no need to import beef.

As there is no major sheep grazing industry in Fiji all lamb /mutton supplies are imported.

We would like to acknowledge the support of the shareholders, the board of directors, management and of course the excellent FML team. Not the least we should not forget the founder the late Dan Costello.

We are also grateful to all our clients and customers who trusted in us and continue to play a very important role in the development of our company.

FML continues to strive to consistently uphold our "vision "of retaining our position as the number one supplier of meat products by offering our customers outstanding service, quality and value.

We are proud and humble to be part of the FML Team completing 65 years of success in Fiji.
