It will be tough in Vancouver, says Bai

FIVE different teams have won each of the respective tournaments of the 2017/2018 HSBC World Rugby 7s Series so far this season.

South Africa won the Dubai 7s, New Zealand (Cape Town), Australia (Sydney), Fiji (Hamilton) and USA (Las Vegas).

It will be interesting to see whether a sixth different winner will be crowned at the Vancouver 7s this Monday or one of the above will rise to the occasion to lift their second crown.

Speaking to this newspaper yesterday former national 15s and 7s rep , Seremaia Bai believes the intensity of the competition will not drop a bit and has urged the Fiji Airways sponsored 7s side to trust themselves.

"It's always going to be tough, they (Fiji 7s) know what to do. They just have to keep on believing and hope things turn out well for them," Bai said.

Fiji heads pool C with Kenya, France and Spain after finishing third at the Las Vegas 7s last weekend.

"Last week they played individually, they did not play as a team.

"USA probably played simple 7s rugby. I hope they will play well this week," Bai said.

South Africa still top the standings after five rounds with 92 points.

New Zealand is second with 82 and Fiji third with 79.
