New attraction for Sugar City

THE Sugar City has a new addition to its many attractions with its soon-to-be open spa.

Noqui Tau is a completely home-grown affair, owned and operated by Lautoka businesswoman Titilia Vuataki.

Renowned in the Western Division for her involvement in social and community work as an executive in the Bula Festival organising committee, Mrs Vuataki has decided to expand her horizons into the wellness business.

"When one of Lautoka's business tycoons decided to close their spa, the girls who were employed there approached me with the idea of opening up a spa," she explained.

"I personally knew that they were good at what they did because I was a regular at their previous place of employment."

Mrs Vuataki said despite the challenges of opening a new business, she decided to give it a go.

"It wasn't easy but I overcame a number of hurdles and I expect to open the doors to Lautoka's first ever iTaukei-owned spa that utilises only Fiji-made products."

When quizzed about the name "Noqui Tau", Mrs Vuataki said it had more to do with communing than the term of endearment it is commonly used as.

"It's about celebrating joy in the company of friends.

"Whenever I get stressed out I like to hang with my friends and that's the origin of the name.

"I have a handicraft business in Nadi called Noqui Tau, so its kind of like an extension of that."

Noqui Tau Spa is located at Elizabeth Square. It used to be a karaoke bar but now is home to spa and beauty therapy treatments.

"We offer everything from full facials, manicure, pedicure, waxing, all types of massages and relaxing treatments."

Once it is granted a business licence, Noqui Tau will be open from 9.30am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday.
