A JOY ride on a newly-purchased motorcycle turned into tragedy after the driver lost his life in a horrific accident in Ba on Thursday.

Mohammed Talim, 29, from Tarivo Rd allegedly lost control of the bike and was alleged to have died instantly when he went under an oncoming truck.

Yesterday, his grieving family were still trying to come to terms with the sudden loss.

His uncle, Mohammed Shahim, said Mr Talim had just purchased the new bike and was enjoying driving it around when the accident happened.

"He loved driving any kind of vehicle," said Mr Shahim.

"My nephew had just bought that bike and he was very excited to drive it."

He said Mr Talim, a crane driver by profession, was the only male in his family.

"He will be really missed by his family.

"His mother is really finding it difficult and she can't believe that he is gone."

Police said investigations into the incident were continuing.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the accident occurred along the Kings Highway in Ba on Thursday afternoon.
