Update: 7:13PM THE bodies of the late Merelesita Lutu and Iliesa Tawalo have been retrieved from the crash site at Delaikoro.

The recovery team, made up of Police, military and fire officers are currently at the site completing their operations.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu confirmed both bodies have been uplifted from the wreck.

He said the bodies would be taken to the Labasa hospital tonight.

The post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Labasa hospital tomorrow.

Update: 8.30pm: Given the remote location of the crash site, the search and recovery operation team has not been able to bring the crash victims bodies to Labasa Hospital.

Police say nightfall has somewhat hindered recovery operations and creates immediate safety concerns for the team.

"Officers will spend the night guarding the scene and the victims bodies and will proceed with the recovery operations at first light," the police statement said.
