Update: 8:21PM NORTH Police and military teams are combined in the search for the missing training aircraft Cessna 172 belonging to the Pacific Flying School which lost contact with air traffic controllers over Korotari just outside Labasa Town at noon today.

The combined team has widened its search area and was this afternoon heading towards Dogoru Village.

The villages of Dogoru, Navakuru and Suweni are located at the foot of the Delaikoro mountain range in the province of Cakaudrove.

Villagers of Navakuru, where the search initially started this afternoon confirmed to this newspaper that they heard the engine sound of the plane approaching the area before midday.

The aircraft had departed its Nadi base at 7:30am today  bound for Labasa and disappeared between Labasa to Savusavu.
