Update: 4:25PM POLICE spokesperson Ana Naisoro says a search and rescue team has been activated in Labasa for a Pacific Flying School aircraft that reportedly failed to maintain contact with ground staff in Nadi.

She said the aircraft departed its Nadi base at 7.30am this morning for Labasa.

"Their last known contact was at 12pm over Korociri, Labasa," she said.

"We have a search and rescue team in Labasa who will be helping in the search."

Meanwhile, The Fiji Times news team based in Labasa is on stand-by for any further developments as the search continues for pilot and plane.
