Minister's political career up to party

Litia Cava
Friday, February 23, 2018

FISHERIES Minister Semi Koroilavesau intends to contest this year's general election again under the FijiFirst banner.

Mr Koroilavesau said his political career would depend entirely on the party.

"The leaders of the FijiFirst party will decide on my fate and if they decide that I am not up to par and that they will not require my service then I'll bow out of politics," Mr Koroilavesau said.

"I can't change my political aspirations just because I'm not being appointed by FijiFirst."

He said he did not apply last year when the party had advertised for candidates because he was away overseas.

Mr Koroilavesau said he was sure that party members would be given another chance to apply.

"I believe Fiji has a lot more going for it as long as we look in the right direction and that is to look forward and not backward."
