Update: 2:07PM PARTS of Sigatoka yesterday experienced a power outage because of unfavourable weather conditions related to the tropical disturbance that affected the country over the past few days.

The Fiji Electricity Authority said in a statement yesterday that the affected areas included Sigatoka Valley Road, Bemana, Tovatova, Volinagerua and parts of the Sigatoka Maro Cemetery road.

In a separate incident, communities from Nadelei to Nadarivatu in Tavua also experienced a power outage because of a broken line hardware yesterday as well.

The affected areas included Nadarivatu Government Station, Nadarivatu Health Centre and Police Post, Naiyaca Village, Lewa Village, Marou Village, Nadala Village, Navai Village, Nadaru Village, Naga Village, Ravouvou Village, Vatusoqo Settlement, TFL Repeater, FBC Repeater, Southbridge Repeater, Nagatagata and Buyabuta villages.

FEA chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel said in both the outage cases, FEA teams were not able to access the affected areas because of flooding.

"Repairs will be carried out once the flood waters subside allowing our teams to access the affected area," Mr Patel said.
