KAMELI Velovelo and Peniasi Rotidara are looking forward to qualifying for the Coca-Cola Games in April.

They won gold medals during the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) High School inter-house at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Velovelo took the 400 metres gold medal while Rotidara won the 200m final.

"I am glad I listened to my heart and ran all the way until I finished first," Velocelo said.

"I couldn't believe that I won the gold medal in the 200 metres. I always wanted to run, but unfortunately I didn't take part in any athletics event when I was at Nehru Primary School last year," Rotidara said.

Meanwhile, Shane Prasad, 14, jumped 1.10m to win the gold in the sub-junior event grade.

"I was more into running compared to field events. I guess I did well in both fields having to win a gold medal in each event," he said.

"I took long jump because I have the height."
