Nadi wants to keep winning run

NADI is keen to maintain the unbeaten run when it plays Tavua in the Vodafone Premier League (VPL) at Garvey Park on Sunday.

The Jetsetters have made a good start in the VPL recording three wins and a draw from four matches.

The side returned from Vanua Levu on Monday with maximum points after beating Labasa and Dreketi.

Nadi Football Association president Javed Ahmed said winning both matches was a bonus for them.

"It is always difficult to travel to the North and play two 90-minute games," Javed said.

"A few players are carrying injuries. Waisake Tabucavu may be rested because an ankle problem.

"We will not take Tavua lightly because they gave us a tough time during the Inter-District Championship."

Nadi last won the VPL title in 2015 and qualified for the 2016 edition of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League.

Ahmed said they were happy with the results so far as they aim to win the title.

"In the league, the team needs to be consistent," he said.

"The players have to perform week in, week out.

"We would have been happier to have won the match against Rewa which ended in a draw. We will be negotiating with Jack's of Fiji to continue their sponsorship."

The Nadi versus Tavua match will kick off at 3pm.

Also at the same time, Lautoka will host Suva at Churchill Park. On Saturday at 1.30pm at Subrail Park, Labasa will clash with Dreketi in the northern derby.
