THE Vodafone Ba team is out of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League after suffering its second straight loss in Vanuatu on Tuesday.

Ba lost its second match to Lae City Dwellers from Papua New Guinea 1-0 after losing in the opening round 0-1 to Vanuatu club Nalkutan.

The result means Ba is out of contention for a quarter-final berth with one match remaining. Lae City Dwellers and Nalkutan have two matches each and are through to the next stage,

Against Lae City Dwellers, Ba goalkeeper Josaia Ratu put on a man of the match performance in the first-half making numerous saves. He left the field in the second spell because of an injury.

In the first spell, Lae City Dwellers players made numerous attempts at goal, but could not shoot the ball past Ratu.

Manasa Nawakula and Narend Rao and Laisenia Naioko received yellow cards in the match.

Tutizama Tanito, meanwhile, put Lae City Dwellers up in the 63rd minute with a low piledriver which went into the net past replacement goalkeeper Misiwani Nairube.

In an interview with OFC Media, Ba coach Ronil Kumar said they learned a lot from the match.

"We started the game well, but you have to score if you want to win. We didn't score. They scored and they won," he said.

Kumar praised Ratu for his outstanding effort.

"He is the number one goalkeeper for us and when he was on the field, he did his best," Kumar said.

Ba will face Tupapa Maraerenga from the Cook Islands tomorrow.
