Recharge app

SANJEET Chand, 28, of Nadera in Nasinu recently designed a Snap Topup App to simplify recharging prepaid mobile Android phones.

"Yes, I've just recently developed what I call a Snap Topup Android App which allows you to recharge your mobile phone just by scanning the numbers and it's not necessary to input the 12-digit recharge PIN," he said.

"It makes life a lot easier because almost everyone uses Android mobile phones now."

He said he seriously thought about designing the app after an incident in December last year.

"I was in the process of recharging my phone when I received an incoming call and in my haste I pressed the wrong recharge numbers and then discarded the recharge card," Mr Chand said.

He said he later found out that his phone wasn't yet recharged so he had to go back, retrieve the recharge card then re-enter the PIN.

"This experience prompted me to look for an easier way of recharging hence the design and development of the Snap Topup App."

He said he personally designed it to work for himself since he was a Vodafone user.

"And because the app also works for Digicel and Inkk users, I decided to make it available on Google Play Store so everyone can use. This was after some testing," he said.

He said being a USP graduate in computing and information systems, designing the system wasn't actually that difficult with his background.

"The Snap Topup App is available on Google Play Store and anybody can download it free.

"I'm currently not getting any financial benefit right for the application but it's the satisfaction I get in knowing that it will make life easier for anyone who uses it."

He said he had not officially approached any of the local mobile phone companies about his new app simply because he wanted to make it available for everybody.
