Update: 1:46PM HUNDREDS of people turned up to the iTaukei Lands Trust Board and Sugar Industry consultations with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama this morning.

The meeting marked the first of a three-day tour by the PM and his team to hear the grievances of landowners, tenants, and cane growers.

He said the consultation was the result of a number of requests for assistance from members of the public.

"This morning's session provides me and our team at TLTB an opportunity and the Sugar ministry team to hear and address issues related to native land and any sugar -related talks," Mr Bainimarama said.

"I also intend to seek views and suggestions from stakeholders on how iTaukei landowners and sugar cane farmers can work together for a better integrated approach."

The consultation was held at the Sigatoka Sai Hall.

The same will be held in Nadi at 3pm before moving to Lautoka and Ba tomorrow.
