NASINU Secondary School wants more of its students to compete in athletics competition since most of their students had been playing rugby union and rugby league in past years.

The school's inter-house was held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Nasinu Secondary School head of department PEMAC Isikeli Kalouniviti was happy with the performance of the athletes.

"We have seen some good performance from the athletes as we try to identify the athletes for our squad for the zone competition," Kolouniviti said.

"There are some very good talented athletes who have joined the team.

"The school is trying to get more students to compete in athletics and get more interest. We are trying to change the culture of the students as most of them concentrate on rugby and we are working to build their interest in athletics."

The athletes competed for their respective houses which included Tovata, Qaraniqio and Tanoa.

"We came second in the girls' division behind Ballentine Memorial School and we will try to go one step further in the his year's competition in the Suva Zone 1. In the boys' division there are tough competition from other schools," he said.

"The Coca-Cola Games will be a different competition altogether and we will have to be prepared for the games, but at the moment we are taking one step at a time."
