TOP amateur boxers Winston Hill along with his fellow national squad members are on a tight schedule as they prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia in April.

The 24-year-old said they were expected to participate in two international competitions prior to the games

'We've been transitioning from off-season training to an eight weeks season camp where we will be travelling to Papua New Guinea for an international competition and then to Brisbane in March, so we're looking forward to a good outing for the boys just to give them a bit of international exposure," he said.

"We're going for a high level competition before the Commonwealth Games.

"Our preparation has been on par, the boys are physically fit and prepared, but we're just touching up on the mental side of preparation that is why we're part of the psychology workshop to help develop our mindset."

The 2016 Olympian knows the kind of competition expected when facing tough opponents from other countries. Hill along with Joseva Ravudi are both vying for a spot in the national squad.

Ravudi said the best would be chosen as only two spot was given and the best one would get it.

"It is never easy to defend yourself when you fight against Fiji's top boxers," Ravudi said.
