Ref's call may cost Wales

Kiwi back Gareth Anscombe felt he should have been awarded a Six Nations try but has insisted New Zealand video referee Glenn Newman's controversial call was not to blame for Wales' loss to England.

Newman ruled that England wing Anthony Watson got his hand to the ball in the in-goal area ahead of Anscombe during England's 12-6 win at Twickenham last Sunday.

But Wales coach Warren Gatland claimed Newman made "a terrible mistake" and most television pundits, including former England players and coaches, felt the Kiwi TMO got it wrong.

Anscombe — who was denied his first test try in his 13th international — felt he had scored.
