A YOUTH group in Yasawa was commended for showing resilience and given a huge boost with the contribution of agricultural aids by Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Iliesa Delana.

Vatunareba Yalobi Youth Group on Waya Island received seeds, garden fencing and watering cans to aid in their garden projects, which had suffered extensive damage during Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston two years ago.

In a statement issued by the Information Department, Mr Delana urged the youth club to persevere in their efforts to plant produce.

He said the initiative taken by the youths in continuing with their garden project despite the challenges they faced with lack of equipment and seeds was an inspiration for other young adults in their community.

Vatunareba youth leader Mesulame Naqitawa said the group intended to expand their garden by planting a wide variety of vegetables in the hope of generating income by trading with local resorts and shops at Yalobi Village.
