TC Gita: Moving West

Update: 6:41PM SEVERE Tropical Cyclone Gita is expected to be located about 140kilometres West-southwest of Ono-i-Lau or 300km Southeast of Kadavu at 8pm tonight.

In a media briefing in Nadi this afternoon, Fiji Meteorological Services director Ravind Kumar said TC Gita was located about 60km South-southwest of Ono-i-Lau at 2pm today.

"If Severe Tropical Cyclone Gita maintain its current speed of 25km per hour, it is predicted to be located at about 140km West-southwest of Ono-i-Lau or 300km Southeast of Kadavu around 8pm tonight," he said.

"By 9pm this evening, Severe TC Gita is expected to be located about 140km Southwest of Ono-i-Lau or 300km Southeast of Kadavu."

"By 2am tomorrow, it is expected to be about 240km West-southwest of Ono-i-Lau and 250km Southeast of Kadavu." 

He said the storm continued to move further west heading towards New Zealand.
