TC Gita: Ogea islanders prepare evac

Update: 11:42AM VILLAGERS on the Island of Ogea in the Lau group are now preparing to evacuate to Matuatabu Primary School located on the Island as they await for the arrival of the category 5 storm Tropical Cyclone Gita.

Ogea villager, Sulueti Koto said villagers had been closely monitoring weather reports and have wasted no time in securing their properties and have started to move the elderly and the young to the evacuation center.

She said the village is currently experiencing moderate winds with the tide slowly coming in.

Ms Koto said at the moment, it had only started to rain.
