Bower happy with preparations

TEAM Fiji chef de mission Patrick Bower is happy with the various sports federations outcome on athletes levies for the Commonwealth Games.

Bower said Government had been so cooperative and they had given a fair amount funding which was only acquired through insuring that acquittals had been in place.

"The second phase is that we have a proper plan in place and to submit evidence of putting in an effort to organise competition and to ensure that athletes are working to improve on their standard," he said.

"Once Government is happy with what we've shown them they will then give us the amount of money that is needed.

"For our athletes, we've received a good outcome where all our athletes have paid their levies before the due date which is the 28 of this month. For those who are lacking they still have time to pay the whole amount.

'We are confident and happy with the cooperation from the sporting bodies and the athletes for their preparations towards the Commonwealth Games."

Bower thanked the Australian Government for preparing venues for pre-games training and competition which will see rugby going earlier.

"Everything is being provided to them and we thank Australia for assisting us."
