Battle of the cities

THE 2018 Vodafone Premier League continues this weekend as the battle of the two capital cities is set to be the match of the round.

Lautoka, who are enjoying a successful defence campaign so far with two crucial victories, will host Suva this Sunday 3pm at Churchill Park.

Both sides would be out to maintain their unbeaten run and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Northern sides Dreketi and Labasa, who lost to Nadi last weekend, will clash in an all Vanua Levu derby. That match kicks off Saturday 1.30pm at Subrail Park in Labasa.

League leaders Nadi will also look to extend their lead on top when they travel to Garvey Park to face Tavua 3pm.

Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal said following this weekend's clash, Lautoka would take a leave from the league season in order to prepare for their Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) campaign.

Despite the numerous postponements, Pal said the league was taking shape.

"This is the last game for Lautoka before they break to prepare for Champions League," Pal said.

Meanwhile, Ba will play their second Champions League match today 3pm in Vanuatu. They face Lae City Dwellers.
