PETERO Veitaqomaki is focusing on his diet in a bid to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast, Australia in April.

Veitaqomaki, 18, won gold medal in the men's 1500-metre race at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu last year.

"I am working hard for the Commonwealth Games," he said.

"It would not be an easy task, but I am doing my best in training and eating the right food which would help me.

"The competition in Australia will be a different competition altogether since the athletes competing will be from all over the world."

Veitaqomaki, who hails from Lavena on Taveuni, had changed his school from Sigatoka Methodist High School to Marist Brother's High School to help him in his training and to further develop his athletics career.

"I want to bring another gold medal for Fiji.

"Nothing is impossible.

"I am eating light food as every morning I eat Weet-Bix with milk and for lunch, I usually have chicken and bele soup while for the dinner I just have a cup of tea and bread."
