FIJI Pearls coach Vicki Wilson is expected to name her team in three weeks for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The Australian-born coach celebrated her birthday with fellow Team Fiji members during a high performance workshop at Holiday Inn on Saturday.

Wilson was part of the Australian national netball team for 15 years, making her debut in 1985.

She became captain of the Australian netball team in 1996, while on the comeback trail from a knee injury sustained at the 1995 Netball World Championship.

In 1998 she led the Australian team to their first netball gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and in 1999 she retired on a winning note, after leading Australia to a one-point win in the World Championship final.

In May 2013, Wilson was named as the new assistant coach for the New Zealand Silver Ferns until the end of 2015.

In June 2016, she signed to coach the Netball Fiji side for three years and she hopes to take the national side to another level.

She successfully helped the Baby Pearls in their recent fourth spot finish at the 2017 Netball World Youth World Cup in Botswana.

Wilson said they were under no illusion that the Commonwealth Games would be easy.

"We are ranked 12th in the World.

"My dream is for the Pearls to play a style of netball that Fiji will be proud of," she said.
