Pac Harbour v'ball revival

THE Pacific Harbour Volleyball Association (PHVA) is making a comeback after 19 years and their main focus is to give the youths in the area an opportunity to showcase their talent.

PHVA liaison officer Jale Bulamaibau said according to their elders, there used to be an association in the area about 19 years ago and now they had plans to revive it.

"We hope to revive it and join the Fiji volleyball to get more exposure for us here along the picnic spot at Pacific Harbour," Bulimaibau said.

"We've had tournaments here at Pacific Harbour over the years that saw a couple teams from Suva make it down, if I can remember it was Kinoya, Raiwai Eagles, Saints, Mid Central, Tamavua Celtics, Qauia, USP and Fire. We organised this tournament and it was sponsored by hotels here at Pacific Harbour.

"One was last year during the National Youth holiday which saw teams from Beqa fielding three teams and we had a good turnout.

"In seeing the progress in recent years and teams making it from various communities we've set a goal to finally start an association to establish something rather than just a tournament every Saturday."

The Pac team have toured Suva a couple times to participate in tournaments like the Easter championship.

The association continues their knockout today as they compete for the Serua Shield to make it interesting.
