A-G: Always speak the truth

ATTORNEY-GENERAL and Minister for Education Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed the importance of speaking the truth and being honest while addressing students of Naqali District School in Naitasiri yesterday.

He said it was imperative for student leaders and people who held positions, especially in Government, to always speak the truth.

"There's no point holding a position if you know that you've got that position by telling people lies, there's no point being a prefect if you know that you continue to be a prefect because you are lying," Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

"There's no point in me becoming a minister if I am going to come to you during election time and lie to you to win your vote."

Yesterday was a special day for some parents because they witnessed their children being inducted as student leaders.

This was evident for siblings Josua and Seremana Veikoso of Naqali District School when they were inducted as student leaders.

Josua was inducted as the head boy of the school while Seremana was badged as the deputy head girl.

The siblings said they aimed to make their parents and school proud this year.

Meanwhile, numerous schools around the country also had their prefects induction ceremony yesterday.
