Minister reappoints bank board

THE Fiji Development Bank's (FDB) board of directors remains with a strong composition after recent reappointments.

Earlier this week, Attorney-General and Minister of Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum announced that four members of FDB were officially reappointed to its board of directors effective as of Wednesday, January 7, 2018.

These include:

* Robert Gordon Lyon has been reappointed for another three-year term as chairman;

* Wella Pillay has been reappointed for another two-year term as deputy chairman;

* Inia Naiyaga has been reappointed to a two-year term as director; and

* Rajesh Kumar has been reappointed to a two-year term as director.

The FDB was established on July 1, 1967 under the Fiji Development Bank Act 1967. FDB is an autonomous statutory body, the operations of which are controlled by a board of directors appointed by the Minister of Economy.

Under the Act, the bank provides finance for projects that contribute to the development of Fiji's economy and improves the quality of life for the people of Fiji. Loan funds are provided for agriculture, SMEs, as well as corporate enterprise projects.
