Man further remanded

A 19-YEAR-OLD man who was allegedly involved in a break-in at the Vishnu Bhawan Temple in Nakasi last month has been remanded in custody by the Nasinu Magistrates Court.

Suliano Wainivanua appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza yesterday charged with one count of sacrilege.

Mr Wainivanua was arrested in Kadavu by officers from the Nakasi Police Station for his alleged involvement in the temple break-in last month.

Police prosecutor Constable Setareki Mocevakaca yesterday objected to bail.

Mr Wainivanua will reappear in court on February 23.

Meanwhile, Rusiate Rokobulou, 27, has been further remanded by judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe of the High Court in Suva yesterday for his alleged involvement in an aggravated robbery case at Dignified Cremations Ltd in Davuilevu, Nausori.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of damaging property and one count of theft.

The alleged incident took place on January 24.

Mr Rokobulou will reappear in court on February 23.
