Bid to curb corruption

FIJI'S investment arm is working towards ensuring that its investment, trade and export advisers are fully aware of the anti-corruption laws and evolving nature of corrupt practices.

This is highly important given the role of Investment Fiji to attract foreign direct investments and assist local exporters.

In a bid to achieve this, Investment Fiji is working with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) through an anti-corruption training for its advisers.

The timely training, which focused on anti-corruption laws, was held in Suva yesterday which is also aimed at addressing the issue of corruption in the country.

Investment Fiji's chief executive officer Godo Mueller-Teut said the objective was to ensure the organisation understood the risks and work well within the boundaries of the laws, either internally or while engaging with foreign investors and exporters.

"The training is a big leap towards maintaining the integrity of Investment Fiji as an independent and a transparent investment promotion agency in the country. Investment Fiji maintains the highest level transparency and accountability in the organisation," Mr Mueller-Teut said in a statement.

FICAC's principal corruption prevention officer Arti Naidu said the training was part of FICAC's awareness programs.
