INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into the death of a foreign diving instructor in Sigatoka earlier this month.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident occurred on February 2.

She said the 27-year-old French man was found at the bottom of a swimming pool of a resort with his diving weight and mask on.

Ms Naisoro added that the victim was unresponsive when a 35-year-old diving master of the resort attempted to revive him.

She said the deceased was rushed to the Sigatoka Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a post-mortem examination will be carried out on a 23-year-old man from Nadi who allegedly drowned while swimming with friends last weekend.

The victim from Nawajikuma Settlement in Nawaka was reported missing last Saturday when he was swept away by strong currents along a river near the settlement.

Ms Naisoro said his body was recovered from the Qeleloa River on Monday.
