PDP suspension lifted

AQELA SUSU
Monday, January 29, 2018

Update: 5:59PM THE suspension of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has been lifted by the Registrar of Political Parties Mohammed Saneem this afternoon.

According to a statement released by the Fijian Elections Office, the decision to uplift the suspension was to allow the party to comply with the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.

"Following the receipt of various documents from the PDP, we have established that the officials had neglected and/or failed to ensure that they had properly implemented the requirements of the PDP Constitution in particular in relation to the appointment of an acting President following the resignation of Lynda Tabuya so that the party was able to duly comply with the requirements of Section 11 of the Act," Mr Saneem said.
