Plea for assistance

Luisa Qiolevu
Tuesday, January 23, 2018

SENDING their five children to school is a challenge for casual worker Asivurusi Suqe and his wife.

Mr Suqe said while he managed to send three of his children to school, they had to go barefoot.

The family lives at Bouma Settlement in Labasa.

"Even though the school rules strictly directs students not to wear flip flops or go barefoot to school, I have no choice but to send my children to start school anyway and I will try and get some job so I can buy their shoes later," he said. Mr Suqe said three of his children started school last week while two were still at home.

"I still have to buy a pair of school uniform for my youngest son who is to attend preschool this year," he said.

"My other daughter still needs to get a proper school bag."

Mr Suqe is pleading for assistance from members of the public.
