A FARMER is relieved after the recovery of nine of his sheep stolen from his farm.

Aiyaz Buksh of Nasarawaqa in Bua is thankful to police and members of the community for their assistance in recovering the farm animals which were worth $5000.

The police recovered five sheep at Vunimoli and four at Bulileka Village. A suspect is in custody at the Nabouwalu Police Station.

Mr Buksh said five of his sheep were stolen on Christmas Day last year while four were taken from his farm last Saturday.

"A few boys from our area informed me about the theft and they even helped me look around for possible farmers who could have bought the sheep," he said.

"I thank the boys for their help. I also thank the police and all those who helped me get my sheep back because this is my bread and butter as I don't have a job to support my family."
