SUVA-BASED boxer Sebastian "Sniper" Singh is focused on beating Brent Dames of Australia in the Westwood Boxing Promotion on February 2 in Suva.

Singh, 23, hit the road yesterday trying to keep an impressive record after a run of 11 fights with nine wins and two losses.

"Fighting Dames is not going to be a walk in the park," Singh said after another torrid training session yesterday morning.

"He has fought some really good opponents in Australia and he has got a good kickboxing record.

"I have been pushing myself very hard in training.

"I have not been beaten on my home soil and I plan to keep it that way.

"I ran 20 kilometres from Samabula to Colo-i-Suva to improve my fitness. It is good the see a large amount of support from my friends in the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police Force. It is so motivating that while running, the kids come out and cheer me on with the men and women clapping on the road and telling me to go on hard in the fight."

Singh is being trained by his father Gyan, a veteran Fijian boxing trainer who has trained professionals such as former Fiji heavyweight champion Frank Atu, brothers Atama Raqili and Jare Lalakai and a host of local amateurs.

"It will be a proud moment for me because I will have the Fiji flag on my shoulder."

The fight will be held at Novotel Suva Lami Bay convention centre on February 2.
