Talk to us, says Akbar

ANY complaints regarding the Ministry of Health's service and conduct need to be raised directly with the ministry, says Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar.

She said members of the public could contact their customer care health helpline by dialing 157 to voice their queries.

"I would like to emphasise at this point in time that the ministry is always open to the general public in terms of any concerns or complaints they might have about our services," Ms Akbar said.

"Some might resort to social media and other platforms to raise their concerns but once again I would like to reiterate that our policy is simple.

"For us at the Ministry of Health to investigate any case, we need the families or individuals to approach us and to lodge a formal complaint whereby the Ministry of Health will then take appropriate measures to resolve the grievances.

"The Health Ministry takes all the views and concerns seriously and will address it in a timely and transparent manner.

Ms Akbar said people had already been making use of the customer care health helpline and the ministry was pleased about it.

"We have had people calling in to voice their concerns and most of them had been addressed," she said.

"Some people are even calling to raise issues that are not relevant to the role of the customer care centre, like requesting information on opening hours of private pharmacies or asking about other Government services, but we anticipate that such queries will reduce once people become more familiar with the service.

"There have also been a significant number of 'prank' calls which we also expect to reduce over time."
