Choose registered institutions: FHEC

ALISI VUCAGO

Update: 12:38PM STUDENTS enrolling for higher education need to choose registered institutions and fully understand the courses and programs they are enrolling in.

This was a concern raised by the Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) as some students have faced issues of not completing courses because institutions close down spontaneously causing qualifications from the institutions to go unrecognised.

FHEC Director, Linda Aumua said institutions registered by the FHEC have been quality assured in terms of  meeting institutional criteria to deliver in teaching and learning.

"The FHEC is here to protect the interest of the people and we are advising students and parents not to be lured into cheap courses that appear quickly or promote unrealistic time frames for completion," Mrs Aumua said.

Mrs Aumua emphasised that students and parents have to thoroughly check out background information about the courses and programs they have chosen.

The public is advised to cross-check with the FHEC about the validity of institutions and their programs by accessing the website; www.fhec.org.fj
