THE Radisson Blu Resort Fiji is looking forward to a fruitful 2018 and working hand in hand with the community and partners to boost sustainable business and its commitment to guests.

Resort general manager John Bendtsen said as the first school terms begins for the year the resort intended to further strengthen it's relationship by continuing its community outreach — "Adopt-a-School" program to assist schools in the local community.

A statement from the resort yesterday said for the first quarter of this year, the resort had planned to expand its outreach, carrying out projects such as donations of projectors and multimedia equipment and library books handover to Nabila Primary School, Tau Primary School and Nadele Primary School among others.

"The resort believes in responsible business practice and this program is an opportunity for us to strengthen ties and provide assistance to local communities as we proceed into the new year," said Mr Bendtsen.

He said the resort's "Adopt-a-School" program was its continuing hallmark outreach project which intended to promote good relationships and give back to members of the community who contributed to the success of the resort.

The program, along with other responsible business efforts has earned the resort — the Carlson Rezidor Group's 2014 and 2016 Responsible Business Award for Asia Pacific operations and Silver EarthCheck certification in early 2016.

Mr Bendtsen said since its inception in 2012, the program had helped more than 30 local schools, both on the mainland and outer islands, and encouraging sustainable business practice within Fiji, giving more than $400,000 worth of assistance, installing more than 650 computers, setting up more than 30 libraries and distributing more than 80,000 library books to local schools throughout the community.
