Update: 7:03PM PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says there a network for support in place by the Fijian Government to help families pay for their electricity bills.

Mr Bainimarama said families earning less than $30, 000 dollars a year and using 100 kilowatt hours or less electricity a month qualifies for the governments initiative.

"Our initiative was only about making services available; it was about making those services accessible and affordable," Mr Bainimarama said.

"My government has a network of support in place to support eligible Fijians with a fifty per cent subsidy on electricity bills."

He said people who meet the requirements should apply at any Fiji Electricity Authority office.

"This project has been made possible by Fijis prosperity, and only through greater prosperity can more development take place in our beloved Fiji."
