Update: 8:31PM BEING away from home is a sacrifice Pajiliai Yanuyanuva is willing to make to achieve his dream career.

Today, the former Cicia High School student from the Lau group joined many other students at the Tertiary Scholarship Loans Boards (TSLB) office in Suva.

His father being his greatest motivation, the 20-year-old says he is prepared to take on the Bachelors in Commerce program, majoring in Finance and Economics, at the University of the South Pacific.

He said even though his father was bed-ridden, it had always been his father's hope that he one day pursue a career in banking.

Pajiliai said he was a step closer to that dream when he scored more than 300 marks in his Year 13 examinations last year.

Although attending USP will come with its share of challenges, he is optimistic he will give it his best and make his family proud.

"I spent all my life in Cicia and this would be the first time to be away from home," he told Fiji Times Online.

"This year, I hope to pass all my units and make my father proud."
