POLICE are yet to lay charges against the driver of a vehicle which allegedly hit a three-year-old boy on Taveuni on Christmas day last year which resulted in the boy's death.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigations were not completed.

"The Taveuni case is still under investigation," she said.

"The driver was brought in again for questioning and that continues."

The boy was allegedly hit by the driver when he ran across the road at Lesuma.

He was walking with his parents who were holding his hands and is believed to have left their hands and ran across the road.

On the accident which happened on Christmas Eve in which a 54-year-old man died after being hit by a passing vehicle, Ms Naisoro said the man died due to injuries sustained from the accident.

"The cause of death was due to injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident and that is why the case was classified as a fatal," she said.

The victim was on his way home from Dromoninuku Village when the incident happened in the early hours of Christmas Eve last year.
