FORMER Fiji and New Zealand 7s utility Waisiki Masirewa, after serving the country in rugby, will now serve God.

This is after he was ordained as a minister for the All Nations Christian Fellowship (ANCF) church along with about 40 members of the church at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.

Masirewa,51, said it was God's call for him to become a church minister.

"I think God had His call on me and the journey that God took me through over the years.

"Everything that happened in my life was according to God's plans. He used rugby as part of the my journey to take me to New Zealand and today (yesterday) it is another part of my life which God has given me and to hear my name being called out in the area was something I will never foirget.

"On the other side is the national stadium and I remember It was where our names were called out to play for Fiji in rugby tournaments.

"Those were joyous days, but today (yesterday) to hear my name being called, is a different feeling altogether."

Masirewa, of Raralevu Village in Tailevu, now lives in New Zealand. He is also a club coach in New Zealand.

He was supported by his wife Emi yesterday.

"The feeling of beingt called to serve God is better than the feeling I felt when called years ago to be a member of the Fiji or the New Zealand 7s teams.

"I have represented Fiji and New Zealand. I used to come and play for Fiji although I was staying in New Zealand."

He returns to New Zealand on Friday.

Meanwhile, The Fiji Times' Waisale Koroiwasa was among those ordained.
