Fiji Police ups tempo on war against drugs

Sunday, December 31, 2017

Update: 6:50PM THE Fiji Police Force is anticipating an increase in drug-related crimes.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho said this was because of their focus on farmers, peddlers, dealers and users during the year.

"We are never going to be disheartened by our critics that say the war on drugs is a losing battle," Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

"We are not going to stop because a single roll or a few grams of hard drugs has a debilitating effect on the user, their family, our community and our nation."

Brig-Gen Qiliho said next year, their war on drugs would be relentless, aimed at getting those involved in the illegal trade off our streets.

The Fiji Police will be releasing the 2017 crime statistics in a few weeks.
