Suva-Nausori corridor experience 3.6 mag quake

Update: 6:44PM A 3.6 MAGNITUDE earthquake was recorded in the Fiji Islands region this afternoon.

The tremor was felt by residents in the central business district and surrounding areas.

The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department confirmed that the earthquake occurred at 5.04pm at a depth of 16km.

It was registered 24km South-southeast from Suva, 36km Southwest from Nausori, and 36km Northwest from Navua.

The department said the shallow seismic activity was minor and was felt in parts of the Suva-Nausori corridior.

However, it assured that it did not pose any immediate threat to the region.
