Traffic flow improved

MOTORISTS from the greater Nadi area are pleased with the improved traffic flow brought about by the new four-lane road from Votualevu to Martintar.

Korovuto resident Shiu Narayan said the new road would address traffic issues during peak hours.

"It's much better now because traffic is flowing freely," he said.

"There are a lot of traffic lights that co-ordinate movement and ensure we reach our destination on time."

Saweni resident Mohammed Iqbal said it was imperative motorists adhered to the road rules.

"The road is good, traffic is flowing and everything is going smoothly, but some drivers should respect the speed limit and also a special request to the bus drivers to stop at designated bus bays," he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Usman Ali of Martintar.

"Traffic has been eased but drivers should obey the road rules and respect the road speed limit," he said.

On Thursday, FRA chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said the Nadi four-lane road would be fully opened to drivers from Friday (yesterday). The new four-lane road runs from the Naisoso junction to Martintar. The thoroughfare was constructed at a cost of $165 million.
