PAJILIAI Yanuyanuva sat for his Year 13 examinations this year with his ill father's advice in mind.

Yesterday, the Cicia High School student from Lau could only wish his father was with him when he received his exam results, having scored more than 300 marks. The 20-year-old was among the 7711 Year 13 students who sat for the exam this year.

"I am so happy," he said. "Before I sat my exam my father suffered an illness that almost took his life.

"Before I went for my first paper he told me if I really loved him then I would do it for him. I'm glad I have."

The commerce student hopes to join the University of the South Pacific next year for further studies and one day become a banker.

Meanwhile, Jokapeci Bulatale was one of the happiest mothers yesterday after receiving her son, Laitia Qotunikarawa's, results. Ms Bale said she was glad that her son did well despite the disturbances that came his way this year.
