ACTING Secretary General to Parliament, Viniana Namosimalua has reapplied for her position.

This was confirmed by the Speaker of Parliament, Dr Jiko Luveni yesterday.

Dr Luveni said Mrs Namosimalua's contract came to an end in October.

"The contract for the Secretary General had ended some time ago, but (Mrs) Namosimalua is currently acting at the moment," she said.

Dr Luveni said the SG's position has been advertised.

"The position has been advertised, it's just a matter of the Constitutional Offices Commission to come together and make a decision."

When quizzed on the number on applications received, the Speaker said she was not aware of it.

"The applications for the post don't come directly to me, it goes to the Commission."

Under the 2013 Constitution, the SG to Parliament is appointed by the president on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission.
