MORE than 1000 people witnessed the ordination of Father Henry Bull as the new bishop of the Anglican Church in the Northern Division yesterday.

Remaining loyal to his calling to serve God's Kingdom, Father Bull vowed to lead his flock by visiting the lonely, the sick, homeless and poor.

He said he would continue with his evangelism work along the coastal areas of Macuata. His relatives and immediate family members travelled from around the world to be part of the ordination ceremony.

"This is such a great blessing for me and my family and God prepared me for this day," he said.

Church head and Bishop of Polynesia Winston Halapua encouraged Father Bull not to allow the burdens and anxieties of his office to cloud his visions.

"But strive always to be pure in heart, to be Christ's servant and follow Jesus," he said.

Bishop Halapua said the church members had grown in the North and mostly in Dreketi, where Fr Bull was based.

"God has used him mightily in winning souls into the Kingdom of God and we will continue to tell people about the love of our great God," he said.

Fr Bull has also asked that he remain at his parish in Dreketi, Macuata to continue with his evangelism work.
