Vakatalesau returns to Blues starting lineup

PROLIFIC goal scorer Osea Vakatalesau is expected to play a vital role for the Lautoka Blues side in their match against the touring Wellington side tonight.

The former national rep was out of action for two months because of injury and is expected to stamp his mark in the Blues starting line-up.

Vakatalesau combined well with striker Samuela Drudru as the Blues try out their combination in readiness for the O'League championship.

Team president Abdul Kadar says Vakatalesau has a wealth of experience and will play a leading role against Wellington.

He said his presence alone would boost the young players as they would be playing against one of the best teams in the O'League competition.

"Osea is eager to stamp his mark in the team and he is expected to be at his very best against Wellington," said Kadar.

"He has fully recovered and he knows the expectation required of him.

"And with Drudru by his side, Osea will play a key role for the Blues."

Kadar said two games against Wellington would be a perfect opportunity for the players to try out their O'League combination despite the absence of the five players who have joined the national team in Vanuatu.

He said the fans would be treated to a top level game as this would be a preview of the O'League games.

"Even though we are not in the same pool as Wellington, this game will give the boys a taste of what to expect in the competition.

"We are looking forward to the game and we are urging the fans to come out in huge numbers and support the boys," he added.

Meanwhile, Team Wellington has arrived yesterday ready to tackle their opponents.

The game will be held at Lautoka's Churchill Park at 7pm.
