TEAM bonding is proving to be the secret of the Fiji basketball Fiji men's beach volleyball team.

The team will play in the semi-final today after the side remained unbeaten in the competition.

The team had players Inia Korowale and Qilu Elliot which defeated favourites Papua New Guinea 2-1 in the last match of the competition.

"It is a good competition and we are confident to play in the Commonwealth Games next year. Papua New Guinea had high expectation but we turned it around," Korowale said.

"It was through teamwork through which we defeated them and our team bonding in not only strong in the field but off the field as well."

Elliot said he was confident they would prove more dangerous in the competition when they competed for the gold medal from next week.

"Our fitness is surely helping us to be on track to qualify and we hope to maintain our standard when we go and compete for the gold medal," Elliot said.

The semi-finals will be held today at the Korman Sporting Complex in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The women's team also stood a good chance to qualify depending on their last game's performance.
