The road to success

FIJI 7s team was reminded of the importance of knowing the road to success before going into the battlefield by the Minister of Youth and Sports Minister, Laisenia Tuitubou.

This was his message to the players during the Fiji 7s team jersey presentation for the Pacific Mini Games rugby competition which starts today at Korman Stadium in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

"The coaches have done their part and it is your effort which would matter on the field and how you do things which you have been trained by your coaches," Tuitubou told the players.

"All coaches want good attitude and no short cut attitudes as we have to accept the new ideas brought in by the coaches and that is to build the winning team. Majority of you have played in international tournaments and you are aware of the work ahead.

"Learning from your failure and miss tackles on the field should be a learning experience."

Coach Saiasi Fuli said development was necessary for the teams considering the standard of 7s rugby had gone up to another level.

"We trained well and prepared for the competition with the players being put in the games mode," Fuli said.

"Our target is to expose these players to good competitions and the players are trying hard to get into the senior squad and compete in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in the next leg."

Fiji plays Nauru at 8pm tonight before taking on hosts Vanuatu at 10.20pm (Fiji time.)
